A working example is worth 2 in the tutorial
« Struts+Hibernate and Webservices example projects available | Main | 6 Basic Java Servlet Examples »Hello everyone,
My name is Greg Amerson and I'm a developer working for Genuitec. My primary job is the Web and Ajax tooling feature lead for MyEclipse. So most of my time is spent improving MyEclipse support for various Web and Ajax related technologies. However, lately we've been thinking of trying to connect with our users and the broader development community at large by starting a small little side project called Examples On-Demand. You can learn more about EoD on the site so I won't go into it too much here. Mainly I just wanted to share with you a few opening thoughts.
What makes me excited about provided example projects to developers is the fact that with MyEclipse any example can take advantage of the MyEclipse Server Sandbox, which means that out of the box you can have a appserver and database pre-configured for any example. So there is no time spent configuring the example to work in your appserver/database environment.
Right now we have 11 EoD projects available. I hope we can double that number in a very short time. You may be thinking that isn't alot but we are just getting started with this service and many of those projects are 3-tier, full end-to-end applications that demonstrate multiple technologies/frameworks, e.g. Ajax, Spring, JPA running on local derby db all in one example.I'll be writing again soon to talk about some of my favorite EoD projects. Until then, happy coding!
